"A large part", meaning the RnF forum can also be composed of people who aren't just out to troll or flame, as evidenced by the posts in this thread. Minority= extremely true. I have yet to run into more than a couple of people who went out of their way to be assholes.
Everyone else, from pick up groups, players selling items, guild members, rezers, have been great. People actually tend to enjoy helping out those that are lower level, given them items and plat, sometimes even creating a quest around it. There are any number of clerics who travel around the world rezing others for free.
I'm not saying we're not all nerds to a certain degree, cause we obviously are. A nerd isn't always a jerk, though a jerk can be a nerd. Which is what this minority is, a bunch of nerdy jerks. You can try to convince me otherwise, but my own subjective, personal experience has been otherwise. Maybe you've been running into all the assholes.

Yeah, most (all?) of the people I've interacted with in-game have been friendly and mature. I know there are some jerks out there, but they're in the extreme minority.

I even make an attempt to present myself as a jerk, but if someone sends me a /tell asking for help to drag a corpse from a zone or two away or asks me to do anything I can actually do, I almost always help them. In the reverse, everyone I have encountered with a solitary exception has been totally helpful and cooperative.

I'll give you an example. A few nights ago I left an oasis group to go to unrest or something because I was sick of oasis. on the way north, I got rooted by a ghoul that was yellow to me. Now as an unbuffed, untwinked tank I have basically no chance against a yellow con mob. I sent one of the members of my old group a /tell asking them to come north and help me. when I was at about 20% the wizard and cleric came from their group, nuked the ghoul down and healed me up. I told them I owed them both a big favor and I intend to honor my promise when they ask. Kindness is infectious; it's hard to be a dick when you get confronted with kindness everywhere you go.

Not going to try to convince you of anything, because I happen to know that the people who claim everything is all peachy and roses are the biggest dickheads of all....and that's the way it's always been, in-game AND IRL.

For sure man, IRL the despondent, cynical and perpetually angry are well known as being the nicest people around. Cheerfull, positive people on the other hand are always dicks. Oh and i posess the knowledge of everyone's personality, not only currently but throughout the whole of human existence.

No really though, do you have any examples of this? I would be interested.

If you look through this guy's posts he is a pathological assclown. His posts are rife with ad homs, false dichotomies, hasty generalizations and other logical fallacies. Don't expect him to bring any proof because he has none. 90% of this server is full of nice guys, and even the other 9% who act like a dick most of the time will be nice to you if you are really in need. There's only a very tiny minority who are genuinely socially retarded and they will be weeded out sooner or later when they can't get a guild or get kicked out of their guild for lacking basic communication skills.

News flash, Sonny Jim. I've grouped with you. I didn't want you in the group, because I read all about your tirade the other night, but I kept my mouth shut because it was a good group. Within 10 minutes, you completely wrecked that group with your micromanagement and your horrible attitude, and we disbanded and reformed the group without you. Like it or not, you have already established yourself as a complete toolbox on this server. So you deal with that. And you should really stop using words in which you don't have the slightest clue of the meaning....like dichotomy. Or contradictions in terms...like logical fallacies.
