you seem to be missing the point that they were making income from this.
No other dev in the long history of EQEmu has made a livable wage off of emulating EverQuest. It's been people doing it mostly as a passion project. Keep all the aspects of THJ as-is, but take away the Marketplace and allowing people to buy in-game items with real-life cash - and I support it. I wouldn't play, but I still support the idea. What you seem to not understand is that they crossed that line, which was well-established by every other dev that's been a part of EQEmu's history of DO NOT SELL ITEMS FOR REAL LIFE CASH

I don’t care that the server is shut down and I played on it.
You didn’t play on it and you’re crying like a little bitch about it. I agree that they shouldn’t have taken money, but I don’t agree on the way that you’re fucking saying that this is their fault. Fuck them. They’re scammers and grifter that’s bullshit and fuck you for saying it.

That's the whole point of contention of the members of the EQEmu and P99. It's one thing to solicit donations - ie: have people give money and they get nothing in return. It's another thing to reward them with in-game items. Now you're profiting off of people wanting a pay-to-win structure.
