Fun and semi interesting fact. I have only watched one NASCAR race my entire life. During that race I decided that driver number 3 Dale Earnhardt was gonna be my favorite. I’m not sure why but I was really feeling his energy on the track. I had never heard of him in my life so I didn’t know I was choosing someone good (like novice baseball players who pick yanks) but 20 min later and the tragic crash happens that he dies in! So on the positive side I’m pretty certain I was Dale Earnhardt’s very last fan he had while alive. On a negative side did I kill Dale Earnhardt by choosing him as my favorite that day?(not actually serious...but it’s weird)

Anyway after that I decided maybe nascar wasn’t for me.

Brutal.

I had all his cars growing up, #3 was the only model I actually put together. After that crash I just couldn't watch anymore because everything Nascar was #3 for me.

I would disagree. WEC is the pinnacle. F1 has barely any relation to road cars at all. Yeah they got 4 tires, an engine, and a transmission but thats about all they have in common and even those things are WAYYYYY different. So much so, they bare almost no relation to road car parts. Yeah 70 laps is cool but you know whats cooler? All the laps. 24 hours of racing at a time. Thats the shit that makes it down to road cars. F1 tech hardly ever makes it into road cars because its just so extreme and expensive. 8 million dollar engines.. come on.
No. And who the fuck wants to watch 24 hour of le mans? F1 is amazing for US viewers...races are 9/10/11 am sunday and over in less than 2 hours

WEC is good but it is not the pinnacle of motor racing.

I'd argue that Mercedes passes a lot of tech onto their cars. Just look at the new 2021s...they have no belts anymore. Its all battery backup assist too. Thats a direct result of the F1 hybrid era.

F1 is more jet fighters than it is cars (all aero + as much power as possible but with as little fuel as you need)...but its still motor racing....just like offshore powerboat is motor racing.

Who said lemans? Watch the 24 of Nuremburg. Theres like 200 cars on the track. 200. Its a fucking mad house. Theres an opel manta foxtail that shows up. Fucking car kicks ass. Privateers can race. You have a spending cap of 250 mil on F1.. privateers can race in ADAC.

KERS is cool but its been around. IMSA, WEC, and f1 all use it.

The turbo V6 era was interesting and the V12 era had the best roar. These modern cars appeal more to tech nerd interest than my balls. F1 became a computer and modern Desktops became RGB 2 Fast 2 Furious complete with racer chair.

Bizarre World.

I agree the big turbo era of the late 80s and early 90s with williams and their adaptive suspension was peak F1, its still a good show today.

Don't forget Schumacher either.

Most of the entire world knows who Fangio, Stewart, Moss, Lauda, Senna, Prost, Mansell, Schumacher, Alonso, Hulkenberg, and Hamilton are.

No one outside the US can name a single nascar driver outside of Dale.

Schumy came after my interest left. I know very little of his years.

Sabastian Loeb came after my interest in WRC left. I know nothing of his years.
