new cars, boosted cars etc have way too much shit crammed in the engine bay, and the new "cover everything in plastic!" shit only makes it worse. that's why i hate the Cadillac. liked that car up until i had to do an alternator.

Even my dealer was saying Fuck this trade it in before they realized its just valve seals. Everyone panics and thinks you need to drop the engine at even the slightest sign of trouble in the pan... Was funny reading the official forums complaints and then experiencing mechanic-bias first-hand myself.

tt got a knock about a month ago, rebuild this winter but this is like my 3rd build so kinda annoying at same time, maintenance is pretty bad but if you do right things like egr delete etc much easier to work on.
im sure the bmw handles the corners a bit better but with the right suspension and brakes tt be right there with u

the bmw is slow as shit unless it has really aggressive gearing like mine (in which case it sucks dick for highway cruising instead) and there is no reasonable way to get more power without a motor swap. and the only motor swaps with good power gains that keep the weight distribution intact are expensive and/or not the most reliable. like ya u can jam an ls1 in there for cheap and do sweet burnouts, but there goes the handling. also you basically need to swap the steering rack which is a pain in the dick unless you also happen to be doing an interior resto at the same time. tt has whimpy breaks for the car's weight & it's heavy. brakes are easy and suspension can compensate, but you can never overcome physics when it comes to throwing a bigger+heavier object around a corner. it's a lot cheaper and easier to fix a tt's flaws, but you can never fully fix them. only real flaw you can't fix on an e30 within the realm of a normal human being who doesn't fabricate is the trailing arm rear susp. disadvantage for lap times, advantage for fun factor. tt's are beautiful & great highway cruisers. single man's touring car imho.
