You guys are just not trying hard enough obviously. You need more people to kill the sleeper, duh. As I expected, casuals.

LoS + Shock of Swords, Afterlife, FoH, all of them. AoW was only downed during Velious during a brief, one-week?, period where several very powerful arena mobs were charmable. Verant immediately made these giants non-charmable.

The next mentions of AoW being killed (in my minor research), were within a week of Luclin being launched after many of the luclin features and buffs were already in the game.

So, if the giants are uncharmable here, then, yes. 5 years of Kunark does make things easy.
Kinda. All of the early, pre luclin kills were done with the frozen moses giants. Word at the time was one of them was a shaman, and for some reason that shaman npc could slow any mob that was flagged as unslowable.
After the nerf to the giants most guilds didn't attempt aow again untill luclin was released.
