Really? I don't get why staff here talk down to people. I was always trained as a Guide in EQ that you must always address the players respectfully as you represent the program as a whole.

Is there something really ludicrous about a request that there be a more clearer and written out Guide or Rules to the Project? Is it outrageous to be against the concept of enforcement action, many times based on non written rules that no one knows about? People were suspended for crying out loud for using OOC as OOC, with no rule. How does this make sense?

Rule lawyering is a direct result of there being no rules, and the constant misapplication or different application of them, depending on who is doing the punishment.

But because the project is free I guess we can all go fuck ourselves or something. Maybe I should open up a non profit animal shelter and tell people who donate money to my non profit to fuck themselves and put down their animals.

Inb4 banned for suggesting more clear written rules and a more healthy discourse between staff and player would be a positive.

Interesting to know that a new staffer/mod has no interest in what someone who has contributed far more to the community than himself wants/thinks. Definitely the most professional response to the question posed.

You're right, I should address Jeremy with the utmost respect, because he has earned it and certainly deserves it.

My comment was directed at Jeremy and Jeremy only, I give no shits about what Jeremy wants / what he thinks he deserves.

Jeremy is a positive contributor to this community? Interesting.

I don't know much about Jeremy's character; I do know he isn't banned, and that he runs a leader board that he pays for out of pocket that many people appreciate. I also don't know what him suggesting that there be clearer rules has to do with anything.

An ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, means responding to arguments by attacking a person's character, rather than to the content of their arguments. When used inappropriately, it is a fallacy in which a claim or argument is dismissed on the basis of some irrelevant fact or supposition about the author or the person being criticized.[2

The point still seems valid to me. There should be clearer and more defined rules for this Project, particularly red. It seems unfair to suspend people for unwritten rules, that at times are applied completely differently, or not at all.

If you've been around long enough to look at his contributions over a long enough timeline, I'd absolutely say he's been a positive contributor. Review his history in technical discussion and bug reports, his feedback on server issues, some of his positive suggestions towards end-game on blue and red, and the initiative he takes to moderate a scoreboard for the server.

And, if you're blasting him because of his behavior in RnF, your remarks towards him don't set much of an example. Maybe 'be the change you wish to see' sort of thing.

as a staff member you are not in a position to judge who is positive and who is not positive to this community and should generally be acting like a staff member should.

You may as well go ahead and start banning and stripping people.

/agree

Rules don't work anyway if the mods don't read/know them. I recently got banned for posting Susvains RL pic which he himself had already posted.

The rule is:
Quote:
2. Post non-p1999 posted RL Pics of other players. SO until a player has posted a RL picture of them or their family on the p99 boards then their photographs had better NOT show up in photoshops or ANY form on these boards.
Susvain is the one who posted it first here:
http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...+shorts&page=4

This is the second time I got banned for the same reason on the same account by the same GM.

I'm actually kinda rustled.
