I've always had the idea of rather than having 2 or 3 competing guilds individual classes should form their own guilds. So warriors would have a warrior guild and wizards would have a wizards guild etc. This way everyone is kind of a free agent and raids would have to occur between alliances and negotiations rather than everyone logs in and cluster fucks to a raid target. Classes could create trade monopolies (items or tradeskills), control certain zones or areas or barter with others for use of their classes services.
I don't know if this would ever work but if it did I think it could create very deep and rich political systems rather than the current us vs. them mentality creating a whole new sub-game within EverQuest.

The beauty of having a "FFA" pvp server is that there is no hard-coded way to balanced out populations. Ya'll keep crying about wanting a third faction, and it seems like 80% of you are against the notion of variance.
Pro-tip: crying and asking for un-implementable changes like the spawning of a third guild, or some sort of alliance or raid agreement... shit is a joke. You want a chance for their to be more guilds on the server? Make the server more competitive? Want the server to be more competitive? Implement variance. You can almost tell from the Nihilum protest alone that variance would be a good thing for the (competitiveness of the) server.
