I used to teach bizniz english to esl corporates, marketing, etc for places like coca cola.

The Russian students were the worst. Not as in they were bad at leaning or not smart.

Instead of engaging with the lessons and maximising the value from the courses they would instead try to ask trick questions so they could feedback to the course provider you were teaching nonsense phrases.

These were weekend courses they had elected to take and had flown internationally from Russia to join yet they’d waste time trying to sneakily undermine the coaches. Fortunately the course providers knew they could be sneaky scumbags, as you say, so generally nothing would come of it.
