Three of us trying to play tonight (2:45AM Eastern). Middlemand worked immediately for two of us. Did not for the third - nor did the ipconfig commands.

I don't know why middlemand will not function correctly for me. I edited Eqhost.txt as follows:
[LoginServer]
Host=localhost:5998
#Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998

I then right click middlemand.exe and select 'run as administrator'

But when i open Everquest and login, i see all the same servers listed (not just p99), and I keep getting the 'an unknown error has occurred' message when i try to connect to a server.
I thought middlemand and eqhost.txt were to make it so i only saw the blue, green, and red p99 servers

Doesn't work for everyone.

Same issue - i can see all the servers and population

But get an unexpected error when trying to click into blue.

Are we all using the same launcher possibly?

Why is this not being addressed or at least publicly acknowledged by the team?

The issue isn't DNS or something server side for P99 (green/blue/red). It's an EQEmu issue that needs to get resolved.

As some have stated, the middlemand thing can work as it will bypass the EQEmu server on loadup and go straight to P99 servers. However, unless you're really windows command savvy and able to understand the gibberish of github (which every single thing on there refuses to have things listed out simply), you may be out of luck.

Those of you using Pigparse may be able to get the middlemand solution to work easier given it has an option in it to enable it without trying to build your own program from github.

First, do the middlemand change to your eqhost.txt file. Change to Host=localhost:5998
Second, load Pigparse before starting EQ.
Press the circle to load settings on a window, in general scroll down to the bottom and check the "Login middlemand" option.
Third, start EQ as you would normally.

It should work for anyone using pigparse and you won't have to do the crazy set-up for middlemand itself.
---------------------

This worked for me. To simplify:

0.- Back up the file eqhost.txt
1.- Download EQUtils
2.- Run "EQTool.exe"
3.- In settings/general, enable "login middleware"
4.- Launch EverQuest while EQTool running

If you see all the servers listed then you either edited the eqhost.txt file wrong, try typing it all in instead of copying and pasting, or it means your P99 is referencing another eqhost.txt file. Do a search on your whole computer for eqhost.txt and see if it returns two results. Edit both.
