Log in or Register.] After reading about it more, I think the OG Dark Elves from Forgotten Realms were always described as having black skin, but were depicted as having blue skin in and art and over time it became the norm for Dark Elves to be blue. I guess if you go back really far though, the Dark Elves from the Tolkien universe looked like normal elves? | |||

Yea well it's hard to draw pure black skin while retaining features to look attractive. And dark elves are supposed to be that. Cover or book art is no different from computer art.
Although, in reality, most creatures living in caves tend to end up with albinism. So its kinda nonsense to begin with.
