Drug wars don't work unless the Drug is particularly virulent or destructive, i.e. Heroine, cocaine, etc - and even then it's questionable. Banning weed is really no different than alcohol prohibition (except worse) - and no one can describe that experience in other terms than an abject failure and a waste of resources.

I've been smokin pot every day for about 15 years -- minus about 2 years in the middle. During that time I went through a lot of shit and ended becoming a hardcore alcoholic. I was literally drinking myself to death. I would stop for a month at a time sometimes, but could never stop for good. That is....til I started smoking weed again. I quit drinking within 3 days, and haven't had a beer since then. Did weed lead me to alcohol? I don't think so. I was drinking booze probably 2 years before I ever tried pot for the 1st time. If anything it's the other way around....alcohol led me to weed. If you wanna sit around and DENY the medical benefits of cannabis YOU can go ahead; you're only kidding YOURSELF. If someone is terminally ill with cancer, and using marijuana / magic mushrooms causes them to abandon their fear of death, who the FUCK are YOU to tell them they can't? Read up on studies that have been done in the past decade involving magic mushrooms and terminally ill patients -- maybe it will open your mind to the fact that not all drugs are bad -- they're only considered bad because they've been labeled "drugs"

drugs are an acquired taste. everyone reacts differently. i know a handful of GOOD kids that ended up in bad situations as soon as they hit college. hell i've got a friend who landed a 32 on his ACT but never managed to go to college due to alcoholism. thankfully he was accepted into southern illonois university this year. unfortunately the drinking has failed to cease.
there's nothing wrong with drugs that do not build up chemical dependencies. sadly that only holds true for those of us whom haven't addictive personalities. not sure why i'm awake so early, i think this hangover just couldn't wait to wake me up and have me feeling groggy. good morning p99, please share more stories friends.

Pretty sure habitual use of bleach as a non chemically dependant drug will still result in a rapid, excrutiatingly painful death from internal bleeding and organ rot.
