As of right now this is the only spot to get information - When that changes , it will be posted. Will keep everyone updated here. Now... I cannot say anything 100% on when this will go public but I will speak my mind. It makes a great classic game way more fun while HD. Same game - just takes the blinders off , clears the blur). This new Cucumbers update is ready for the masses IMO. At the very least it should be out very soon @Cucumbers do you wish to comment on this please? Now for the people interested in a HD remastered EQ. First off Thanks for all the kind PMs! Lots of work goes into this and I am sure when the full package is done there will be a list of people who helped. I would make this list now but still not sure if we will keep this thread or make a new one. Cucumbers been slaying the files and is HD transforming fast. OP. + others and like I said it should all be listed/come out soon. Thanks again for the support. I will be attempting to "pull strings" asking permission to release. I will try an get him to give you guys phase 1. (which includes ALL weapons -epics etc + armor robes , much more WELL worth it ! ) If they can get it all packed into the p99 style patch . It should be out very soon then! Sorry - there currently is no official release date. This is done on volunteer time. So please be patient. They are moving at a super fast rate as is. It is very time consuming. Do not get discouraged though because... Keep in mind that I am not the master ps I made this tripping [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] RELEASE DATE: possible BEFORE Thanksgiving! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I use the newest, and ITS AMAZING. If you play p99 you HAVE to try this. It is classic , just crisp. Releasing this has enough power to keep players "mezzed" threw the holidays. In return this gives King Cucumber time to relax and take the zones/npc one at a time. Or whatever he chooses. This would also allow the community to report any bugs they are experiencing (even though I have played with the HD models for 4+ months. Have never had 1 issue!) After watching and helping. I would guess the full product (zones and all) would be completed sometime after christmas. So be patient on that. I believe 10-15 zones and the NPC+dragons in them are already completed. So Maybe do the armor weapons now. Then around X mas release the zones that you have done [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] . Do not over stress though break as you feel. The new weapons shields pack alone would keep players happy for at least 6+ months if not more. Its a little confusing and tbh to much work to download and install when they are not packed like a p99 patch. I think that can be done and hope Cucumbers will do it. Will see. So TL DR? Tell Cucumbers release the weapon/armor version and we can wait for the zones and NPC. I love running around in badass 4k EQ HD REMASTERED. and I want others to see the greatness! -give them the weapon/armor sneak peak for the holidays. They may make a new thread once everything is completed. Check back here for the latest information and I am gonna try to get the newest pack released soon. So the players can enjoy - and beta test report any bugs (probably are none , but still ... excuses How about you public? Can you hold off on the zones and npc ? Post your thoughts... I been using the new armor/weapon pack and I am LOVING IT. Almost like a new game with the 4k tv + HD EQ. But it isn't. Still has the nostalgia + adds more immersion. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] RATING : A++ CRACK ATTACK WARNING: If You already addicted to EVERCRACK please stay away from this mind blowing graphics update. Enjoy~ Should get pack 1 released soon.

Hello ,
They are currently working on a APP that will allow them to easier package the textures together. I believe from what they have told me that there will be a few options. Like one basic for armor/weapons/char texture. then like add ons such as the HD elementals and stuff. I play on 4k and I LOVE this. The game looks so damn good. It does suck UI wise for 4k because everything is so small. But I also believe Cucumbers is going to make another UI like his last one that was badass , but this one will be for 4k users! No more squinting. I have asked and "pushed" multiple times to get the basic HD pack released. And I believe once that app is done then the phase 1 pack will go public. Phase 2 zones and dragons will follow. Hope to give you more information soon. Thanks for your comments and PM's . Can't wait for people to get this!

Time for an update (disclaimer: since this is a work in progress, some things stated may or may not end up in the final version, or may end up being different than described)
Quote:
Theoretically, it will also allow anyone else to distribute new textures through the app, since everything is going to be stored online and it will just let you download those textures from whatever location they're stored at. We're also still making a lot of progress on the actual textures themselves - we recently solved a crashing while zoning problem due to client memory usage, so it's definitely a good thing we're taking our time to make sure we do it right rather than release a shitty broken thing that screws up the client. I upgraded to this and have really enjoyed the difference. The graphics still have the same 'classic' feel to them, but just much better looking. In some cases, the upgrade doesn't just make the graphics sharper, it also fleshes out a bit more the theme of the area. The Freeport bank area is a lot cooler looking for sure. I'm not sure if this post has links to the world graphics upgrade also, if so, it is definitely worth the upgrade too.

It should be said though - and this is now partly the reason why we're working to release updated texture packages: if you install any of the new textures in this thread's OP, your client will crash while zoning more often regardless of how good your computer is (explanation below). So if this is something you care about, I'd actually recommend not using any of them, and if you've already installed them I'd recommend reverting back to the original high-resolution Trilogy textures.
That said, all textures such as those in the OP are going to be made available in a way that will not make the client crash. The reason this happens is because the Titanium client is a 32-bit application, and can therefore only use a maximum of 2 GB of your system's memory (actually only about 1.75 GB to be more precise). The way it stores data in memory is also really inefficient, which ends up leading to memory bloat issues when you zone between data-intensive zones - as soon as it gets anywhere near 2 GB of data stored in memory, it throws an exception and crashes to the desktop. So it doesn't matter if your machine has 2 GB or 16 GB of onboard RAM, or whether you have a SATA or SSD hard drive, the Titanium client will crash all the same once it hits that threshold. And keep in mind that it's not just writing zone textures into memory but also NPC and character and armor and weapon and held item textures as well - everything that's visible, basically. So if you install the updated West Freeport textures you are going to crash when zoning into and out of West Freeport much more often. We're solving this issue in the upcoming packages by doing tons of compression. To give you an idea of the difference this makes, the global_chr.s3d provided in the OP is about 167 MB, while the global_chr.s3d in the upcoming package which contains all of the same textures plus tons of newer and higher quality textures is only 13 MB. So yeah, I don't mean to knock the work that Chebby and Nysus et al have done because it's exceptionally good, it just needs to be compressed down to a size that the client can handle. | ||
