I quoted this before:

Quote:
Roddy White ... was directly responsible for the violation and would have been suspended without pay for the first eight weeks of the 2015 regular season had he still been with the club.
8 weeks = half a season, no? But once again, the Falcons pleaded guilty. Patriots won't be nearly as honorable after getting caught.

Right. So the guys that deflated the balls will get suspended is what your saying. And Brady and the rest of the org will get a slap on the wrist fine and a suspension that is absolutely meaningless. If your keeping in line with that report, lets say, the first two preseason games.

Yeah, no. McNally didn't ask for the balls to be deflated. Jatremski didn't ask for the balls to be deflated. The balls didn't ask for themselves to be deflated. Just like White didn't hook up the speakers himself and would have received an 8 week suspension, Brady will still have a significant sanction as long as he can proceed with grace. He won't be able to, so it's going to be even worse.

Yeah, your argument doesn't hold water, so you resort to ad hominem attacks. Good call. Why did they even move this thread out of RNF?

Quit trying to compare punishment of a team that pleaded guilty and got a lighter sentence with a team that insists on innocence even after they have film of the guy taking the balls in the bathroom after stealing them from the officials locker room and cell phone records where he calls himself the "deflator."

McNally might have been the one who did the actual deflating, but they have proof of him accepting "gifts" from Tom Brady for doing it. Just like White was directly responsible for the noise, Tom Brady is directly responsible for the deflating. His punishment will be appropriately similar.

So you think that White made the call to pipe in the noise? Or maybe it was Jim McCay that actually made the call to do it and White is the one who carried it out? Get what I'm saying? The person who actually, physically broke the rule is the one who would have eaten the suspension but ultimately got fired. Its called a scapegoat. The person who asked him to do it got a meaningless suspension, the team lost a meaningless draft pick and got an almost insignificant fine. That's the precedent that you can draw from that example. Whether or not they admitted it freely when questioned in not sure. The quote from Blank was after the fact. Its easy to be upfront after you've been caught.

According to the website you're defending, Roddy White was directly responsible for piping the noise. Roddy White was the one with the suspension pending but was fired instead. I'm not as familiar with Noisegate because despite all of their effort, the Falcons are still bad and were unable to capitalize on any supposed advantage provided by the extra noise, but if the report found that Roddy White was directly responsible, then Roddy White being punished was not a scapegoat. If you're proposing that someone else made the call and then blamed it on White despite the report would, sure, that would be a scapegoat. But I'm betting that that's not what happened because that's not what was in the report, and you should really let that tangent die because it really has nothing to do with Tom Brady.

Nowhere in the report on Deflategate does it imply that Kraft or Belichick were in on the deflating. If they were, I doubt they would let Tom Brady solely take all the blame. They stand to lose too much. They're going to try to bring up more and more pseudo-science to try to discredit the report. They're going to distance themselves from McNally and Jatremski. But the person directly responsible for the balls getting deflated was no one other than Tom Brady himself. I believe I properly paralleled that to Noisegate earlier when I said that White didn't install the speakers himself.
