If a lack of immediate interest or a little opposition already have you discouraged or second-guessing the idea, then you are unlikely to be capable of seeing a guild through the growing pains.
There is a good reason I don't have the drive now and so many guilds die out after an initial surge. It will take its toll on every officer and especially the leader. Don't take the decision lightly because people are going to put their faith in you.
Plan the guild out and get a solid foundation in place before you start building. Figure out who among you will be the leader and how many officers there will be and what roles each of you will perform. I like the number seven so we had two Raid Officers, two Recruitment Officers, two Guild Officers to help me take care of the day to day stuff and my job was to resolve conflicts between guildies especially but with all the people outside the guild they pissed off.
The specifics will be up to the core group, but everything will go smoother when everyone knows their job and can focus on it exclusively. There will be a thousand unexpected headaches at least and somedays you will feel like you are babysitting spoiled kids on a sugar rush.
I will gladly help you and whomever else figure out a plan and get the basics set up if you all would like some assistance. Just PM me or something and we can discuss it outside a public forum.
