I agree this must be a thing. Because when I think of myself, I would totally become that begging German guy if that’s what I thought could make people feel sorry enough for me to spare my life or let me stay in their country

Now if they spared my life I’ve thought about it and I would have to refuse going back into circulation. Even if it meant death or prison. I couldn’t live with myself if I was spared by the enemy only to go right back out and kill them a few days later. I have some god damn honor. with regard to that clip from saving private ryan, captured germans were swiftly taken to england or canada so they could not be returned to the fight if the germans were able to capture camps in france, they didn't have alot of word about allied prison camps to make a decision on

so the germans were told all manner of things that you always say about the enemy, they will torture you, they will eat you etc.

that soldier was blind folded and told to walk in a direction until he found allied troops to turn himself into, that's a hard no lol

he knew where that squad was and what direction they were going in, they should have either shot him or turned him over to another unit themselves.

it was just a bit of hollywood drama, I guess spielberg felt it necessary to show that this squad was merciful, that squad was army rangers, they knew how to handle it better

Maybe, but in his case, acting pathetic might have been he only scenario that didn’t result in him shot in the head, if we coming from the assumption this happens to be a merciful troop. Because they are still super pissed you just killed one of them

I'd be surprised if any country accepts Palestinians considering some pretty severe friction in places that have hosted them in the past, including assassinations and coup attempts. Basically they have tended to act with a single minded focus to make whatever state they are in commit terror attacks against Israel. If the country refuses, they commit terror attacks against that country. I feel like there is plenty of room though in certain parts of the world, like here:
