Their goal was destroying the corporatist environment of the US. But when you create omnipotent government (their solution), you create worse corporatism than exists in nature for a number of capture-related reasons (I really wish they'd do some detailed analysis on how EU/China public policy works to exacerbate corporate power).

So ultimately they were self-defeating.
