How much of a difference between the "Classic" Enchanter experience versus what we see today in P99 would you attribute to better computers and more reliable internet connections? I think most people can agree that 26 years ago Enchanters weren't the soloing gods that we see today, but even if the code was perfectly restored on P99 to match what was seen on Live, I still believe that current knowledge of game mechanics combined with faster and more reliable internet speeds would change the "Classic" experience completely.

Are you arguing that the mechanics on P99 should emulate what was coded in 1999-2000 or that the code on P99 should be changed to force Enchanters to play like how the class was playing in 1999-2000?
Piece of advice: Don't engage with Loramin on this stuff and just ignore it. You will basically always get a response that boils down to things should be what he remembers them being, and if they weren't a certain way then that 100% means that classic mechanics couldn't have allowed it (as opposed to a variety of other reasons why it could be the case). It's not worth discussing with him.

And some Enchanter players will continue to claim that their wildly unclassic class is perfectly classic because they care more about not getting "nerfed" than getting to play the game the way it was back on '99.

But it's a moot debate at this point, because Nilbog is finally fixing channeling [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The spirit of the game was to keep you paying 9.95 a month forever.

Hope this helps.

It’s funny cos eqemu started off as being based off gut feelings, fuzzy memory and limited understanding of mechanics, which is apparently much more reliable than client decompiles and leaked live dev info we now have the benefit of. No slander to solar et al they did an incredible job, especially as so much stuff passed the vibe for actual decades.

The funny part about Loramin focusing on Channeling is he's had a ton of other arguments that he likes to try and make but suddenly they're fixing Channeling and now he's acting like that was his only issue the whole time lmao

Ten years ago I would've been right there with Loramin, but at this point it's far too late for me to care overmuch anymore. What does it matter to me when my highest-activity days are long past anyway? Won't do me any good either way at this point.

It ain't just channeling though. Maybe they'll come for lulls and highlevel charm durations too. There's a lot of wonky stuff on P99 and enchanters just happened to benefit from those spell issues more strongly than others did. Then we have other nonclassic issues like lifetaps resisting or rooted dragons or the yellow bar not working or many monsters being overtuned in general. Some of those are deliberate, some, less so. Jimjam is right, a lot of development was done in a sort of seat-of-the-pants manner, and it really does show. It's close to classic, but not a 100% match. P99 was never meant to last this long after all--was really intended as a sort of stopgap pending other classic projects built in a more exacting manner. Life had other ideas, and P99 has a commendable track record. If it has flaws, well, what doesn't?

Celebrating wins as they come does not mean I'm abandoning the pursuit of Classic EQ ... it just means I'm appreciating a step in the right direction.

The client touchers say the player/NPC spell resist system(s) changed in Luclin+

Many of the former category have left, but almost none of the latter have.
Over the years I have noticed that Free-to-Play games seem to attract some of the worst and most toxic people I've ever encountered in any online space. I've played WoW for over 20 years now. For the most part the community is the best part of the game. Very low toxicity outside of solo shuffles.

However a few months ago I tried Project Epoch, which was a F2P Emulator of Classic WoW and was overwhelmed with how toxic the community was. It's like they took every unemployed loser who is normally banned everywhere else on the internet and crammed them into one server.

I've noticed this with several other F2P games that will typically run on a 20 year old potato as well. It's like the social outcasts who can't hold down a job long enough to buy a modern gaming PC or pay for a subscription all flock to these types of environments.
