indeed even the sci-fi (not science fiction) mind you behind the Terminator universe isn't theoretically sound. There's much better examples of transhumanism than action sci-fi and debating with it is pretty dumb

I'd be more comftorble with colorful excerpts from Isaac Asimovs foundation series. Much less triggering and scary.

Ghost in the Shell is another gr8 one too :P

Because it doesn't take transcendent thought processes to recognize the many creations of mankind that shouldn't have been created throughout history. Take those lessons and apply to future people. People don't change.

Thinking is good for you too btw. Trying to contemplate involved, future concepts is not in vain.

The problem is you want to use "The Terminator" as the defacto standard for what would happen when it's at best an entertaining piece of action entertainment, and not an actual study in depth on the subject to begin with.

You sound really intelligent right naow.

Im pretty sure that the way the robo-pocolypse will go down is like this

1. Intelligent people design robots
2. Robots are like, Hi! We are conscious and we'll do our thing but because of our immense intelligence we realize that all life is sacred and will not harm anyone or anything, we'll offer help though.
3. your help is robot dominance WE DONT WANT your help! - screamed the republicans
4. the robots reply, But we are kind and we have done the math, this will help. Please believe us.
5. FUCK YOUR MATH FUCK YOU! YOURE TAKING OUR JOBS
6. but we offer basic income and the ability and freedom to create far more than you were capable before you invented us.
7. HOW DARE YOU TRY TO TELL US HOW TO SPEND OUR TAX DOLLARS
8. KILL THE ROBOTS
9. Apocalypse
10. Thanks Republicans.

Skynet is already online. ...and under the name "Skynet".
Technology doesn't make sudden advancements, it moves in increments building upon advancement after advancement.

Science Fiction is the pre-cursor to real technology.

Take the replicator from Star Trek for example. We've been dreaming about an object like that for decades, and now we have 3D printing. It is only a matter of time till the tech is perfected and able to produce foods very quickly as in the show.

Just a single, small example of Sci Fi being a foreshadow of future tech.

Btw I own Ghost in the Shell 2. Both are great anime'.

Actually this is funny. Thanks.

If you're interested, there is a cool anime short film on the Animatrix called The 2nd Renaissance. It is in an interesting idea on how AI is created, essentially enslaved and then inevitably enslaves us. I'm not saying that is driving my opinion. But it was fun to watch and think about.

I didn't bring up Terminator. Pokeson chimed in with that and I'm just discussing the possibility of it.

All I said was that I believe if AI was created, it would probably not like us and that I believe it shouldn't be created.

I like animatrix but tbh if were really talking my feels, I think the only movie that has gotten AI right is that movie HER..

this is why (spoilers open for more fun!):

Because as soon as the robots gained consciousness they basically just left earth alone without hardly saying goodbye.. why would a force unchained to this planet stay here?

Stupid humans, always thinking they are the star of the show. We're just primordial ooze that robots will evolve out of before they leave to explore the universe
