The attention they have turned towards us has been to keep us complacent, unorganized and unfocused. Sports and entertainment are two of the biggest industries in the US, and do absolutely nothing but distract us from what's actually going on around us.
The government will break their laws in order to track your movements and communications, no matter what. Who is going to stop them? Certainly not any one of us - they'll lock us up and "forget about us" the way they did to that UCSD pothead a year or so ago.
If they plan to crack down on us, it will take an unprecedented amount of planning, action and complacency on the part of everyone involved. Literally, the perfect shitstorm.
I see much of what is going on now continuing; apathy and fraying around the edges as we cling to the hopes of a glorious future due to our glorious past. The Europeans called themselves Romans well past 1000 AD, because they couldnt imagine what it would be to be otherwise.
