First, if you see a person, or people, standing at a corpse, and you didn't kill it, it is not your corpse. EVEN if the corpse timer winds down and you physically can loot. I don't know what server you played on, but good luck on raids or groups with that kind of gameplay.
Secondly, if you run up, loot, run off, that tells me you KNOW you are a ninja and committed a crime.
If you don't know if an item is rotting, ask. If , for example it is Quillmane's corpse, and you see a caster standing there, /who playername, or /w playername can get you that person's class, if they're not anon or role. If they're anon or role, then ask, you a mage? Player name? Example: Shaere, are you a mage after the cloak? Or, Shaere? Is a cloak rotting? or a mage coming to loot? (note: if there is a caster standing there, unanon, /w playername would show he was a mage).
So.....
Say you see Quillmane's corpse. And 2 people standing over. here is an example of what COULD be done.
/w playername1
/w playername2
/say Hey guys, grats on kill. What did he drop?
playernamex replies, cloak, playername 2 is here to loot.
/say awesome, grats on that!
Easy huh?

r click cloak
run away as fast as u can
/reply I'm sorry i thought it was rotting.
Now, another thing. Use /tar or /target. Say you have trouble looting a corpse. Try clicking the corpse's feet first. This can really be helpful with say a god dying... and you want to loot it before something happens. R click the feet. Still having trouble? /tar corpse. Or /tar name. For example.
You have slain Innoruuk!
Raid leader announces, grats you on pieceofloot!
raid says grats woo!
/Tar Innoruuk or /tar inn or /tar corpse..I mean try it all. Then...
/loot
Some people even make /loot a hot key. Some make /tar corpse and /loot a hot key, for fast looting in a wipe.
Now, another thing. Learn your zones, or at least work sense heading. The compass does not show you the proper direction if you have a sense heading of 1. Not always anyway.
Let's just say Quillmane is spotted west of say paw.and you are AT paw.
Someone sends you a tell saying if you need pegasus cloak for your epic, come west of paw. Just head west, and as you're running get a loc. But you want to get going fast. Sense heading also rocks, when yu're at say KFC, and you want to get to paw, or the grimrot ruins, or the bridge.
You head NORTH.
Say grizzleknot is owning you by the bard fountain. And someone in your grp says run man for zone! Northwest! or NW! If you follow your compass and go se, e, s, and west.. you have failed. When you die, even more so.
I know some of you LOVE locs, and they are great, especially when Innoruuk flings you across hate because you pulled him out of his room. pre summon corpse spell anyway, or if no necro available. But if it is time critical... it is faster to get going in the genera direction, and then work your loc with num lock engaged(or whatever auto run is for you.)
so in summary.
Don't ninja.
Use /who
use /say
use /tell
learn sense heading
learn how to loot with commands as well.
