but it doesnt really matter in this case because all the archived threads I came across had pretty similar themes

1) rest of the server was complaining about TMO (including some TMO members) - these were general forums mind you
2) calender disputes regarding mobs like VS/Talendor/Severilous/Trakanon/Planes etc..

which doesn't state anything clearly but I would probably concede y'all had server firsts on a couple things, I did find some evidence that by Oct 2000 3 guilds on FR had killed Venril Sathir - HoC, Sacred Frye, and TMO, but I could not find which one was first.

a couple things that should be noted for everyone

1) silverwing down thread dated Nov 25th 2000, is approx a week and a half or so before velious was released. Took you from April to basically velious launch to down probably the easiest vp dragon, I know it's back in the day it wasn't as easy as it is now but still having a server first on a shitty server isnt much to brag about.

2) This is the more interesting point to me, but from a little extra digging and seen on the link above Fennin Ro server used a Raid Calender!!! haha. From what I've been able to gather about it any interested guild posted there intentions in regards to what boss they wanted to kill and then were given the opportunity when there date range came around.

from what I can tell there were 3 guilds on FR all pretty equal when it came to progression and they gravitated toward a Non-FFA system and instead preferred a raid calender setup

IB is like a joke guild. None of them were actually doing this stuff as server firsts on eq the first time around. They thought it meant something 10yrs later! At least you guys impressed me with your dedication. Gotta be worth something.

I gotta say this is a point I've been trying to make for a while.

I've posted evidence on 255 resist cap, how reliably spells should land (notably MAJOR aoe) and that Trakanon should port you thru invulns.

Meanwhile, we have people defending Sirran dictate (fucking insane, thank god this will be over) etc thinking they're the kings of classic EverQuest. I look down my nose hard at such people.

When everything is said and done and cleaned up here and the server is relaunched... THEN you can start talking about who is more bad ass.

Getting dragons stuck in ceilings and divine aura tanking shit and killing it "first" doesn't make you good at organizing raids, helping the right classes level, giving the right loot to the right people, pulling shit with true classic mechanics etc.

Mobs didn't aggro through walls in plane of hate for the longest time here. Were you proud of your "progression" doing that too? Puhleeze.

Like the "old school" top guilds didn't use every exploit in the book and didn't fear using 3rd party programs. Shit's as classic as it gets.

The biggest "exploit" I remember on a raid was a warrior shooting his bow over and over at perma rooted Yelinak to gain aggro before engage.

However, all the mechanics worked as far as dragon roar, VS riposte taps, his special hate, Shadoo not stacking with resist poison... nor could we divine aura tank shit in Sky..

So.. yeah. Classic was classic.
