Haha, I had to appreciate Sirken dealing with the shitheads. I ended up mostly doing dev stuff because good lord, I couldnt handle the player tears.

I'm curious if the P99 player base is any 'nicer' than the old VZTZ one.

P99 crys a lot more than VZTZ. they cry about absolutely everything. (ie: /petition i dont read the rules, but im pretty sure this guy is breaking them. he keeps staring at my camp. please ban or im quitting this piece of shit server forever and my personal favorite, ie: /petition unban my accounts right now you fucking fagots).

R99 and VZTZ are similar. R99 players for some reason just LOVE to multipetition a problem.. they for some reason actually believe that spamming my petition queue is going to result in something positive for them. Also, the R99 community is 100x more douchbaggy than VZTZ ever was. VZTZ always kept that shit in game for the most part. on R99 as soon as there's an issue prepare for Wheelchair pictures, 4th grade insults, RL attacks, character strip/deletion, etc.

at the end of the day, i think people appreciated VZTZ more than R99 because the players knew back on VZTZ how unstable the situation was, especially at the end when it was just Voidd, Keegan, and myself. if VZTZ went away people had zero options at the time, and nobody wanted VZTZ to go away, so there was a certain line that wasn't crossed.
on R99 i think people take the server for granted because they know that they can do pretty much anything that they want, and R99 will still be here in the morning. there is no risk of losing the server, there is no instability, the staff doesnt hate each other, etc etc. the attitude around R99 for the most part is "Why should i be a decent human being if i dont get rewarded for being decent?" usually directly followed with something like "How can we get more players on the server". R99 would have easily another 100-200 players online if they werent griefed off the server by a douchebag fungi twink before they could even hit level 20.

I lurked the VZTZ boards some, to see if I wanted to play there. Compared to the VZ boards, it looked like a cesspool and really turned me off of the project. Maybe I'm just not remembering it right, but it seemed much, much worse than these boards.

you are either remembering it wrong, or you didnt spend enough time on one of the boards. RL attacks, attacks on peoples children, posting RL info, stripping/deleting accounts, is primarily a R99 exclusive feature.

the "worst" thing that happened along those lines on vztz was "the wipe committee" video.

VZTZ's biggest down side was that VZTZ (and every other eqemu server besides R99/P99) was riddled with cheaters. to catch for MQ we usually had to to set up stings and manually catch them. luckily Rogean and Nilbog are much more knowledgeable in their respective fields than anyone from VZTZ ever was.

People make fungi twinks because leveling a melee/hybrid without one will cost them 25+ days of their life. The reason there isnt another 100-200 players on the server is because there is still a pvp death exp loss, no yellow text and no exp group bonus. There is always going to be immaturity in a gaming community.
