Oh, and to address the main question of the OP, sure. There's nothing wrong with being proud of being white. It's pretty stupid, since it's hardly a step up from being proud of being human -- but if you're stoked about it, cool. It's not really any more ridiculous than being proud of an ancestor you never met, or a famous figure that grew up in the same town as you, or anything else that you had very little or nothing to do with.

But being proud of your skin tone or your genetic makeup or even the culture you were raised in really doesn't make a lot of sense. You can be happy about it. You can like it. You can prefer it to alternatives. But pride seems like a mischaracterization of the sentiment.

Also, I think you're conflating 'racial' pride with cultural pride. It's one thing to believe Mexican food and lifestyle is the best, but it seems a little more ridiculous to be proud of everyone that has ever had the same few similar genetic pairings and everything those people have ever accomplished.

Almost invariably, 'racial pride' is just another word for racism (which, as discussed above, is based on a flawed understanding of genetics anyway). If you're proud of being white, you're not really saying you're proud of everything Canadians, Norwegians, and Belgians have accomplished. You're saying fuck off to people with black, brown, or yellow skin.
