I lived in the gay neighboorhood of Montreal for 2 years though, and started to get more sympathy for them when more then once i was almost beaten down by drunken jocks because they assumed i was gay, because i got on the metro at that station.

May Long is the long weekend in May in Canada.
The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede is The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth....aparently. It is more like the Greatest Redneck / Drunk ass "Fair" on Earth. Actually, Shambhala is the greatest outdoor show on earth.
