If I have to pick it up, she can put it down.

The only exception to this is if I'm at a buddy's house, I'll put it down so he doesn't get in trouble for it by his wife.

When a guy pisses, there may be a splash or some drizzle that ends up on the seat or brim. Have you ever cleaned a toilet before? Notice the yellow shit on the bowl? That's piss, and that's what would be sat on. It's just disgusting. Put the fucking thing down. Nuff said.

No, they're saying that when you piss, with the seat up, a nasty film can sometimes form from urine dribble, splash, or what-have-you, and to put the seat back down to cover it up. This is so if some nitwit/lazy bastard that can't possibly be bothered to check whether the seat is up or down comes along they won't fall in and sit on stale/dried piss.

I'm still of the stance "Look before you leap." It's really not that hard to tell where the seat is, even in the dark.
