There is truth to this, what is the fun in killing someone 257 times in a row while they are afk at work if you have no audience to brag to?

Global OOC will only promote more griefing.

Im not concerned about people bragging about kills, that would be just fine.

Its just part of this community is utterly idiotic and would start to spam idiotic stuff all day long.

You know the saying "this is why we cant have nice things"

better off getting people used to using the IRC channel and making a sticky about this so that more people get on it.

The IRC channel would suffice to help people find groups if it is properly advertised.

Wouldnt want people new to the server log on to some idiot spamming "Eat cocks you n*gger loving sluts"

Also, global OOC wasnt classic (I know, many things on this server arent), it will introduce all sorts of things that shouldnt be there, like a group of gankers in SK that is broadcasting so and so player just left the zone, so someone in NK or lake rathe can actively look for him.

The advantages to me arent worth the negatives.

The bottom line is this: I have 40+ hours played already on my current toon. I can count on one hand the number of lines of OOC I have seen since I started. I have not seen a single auction.

If you are all up in arms against the mere idea of global channels because of the big bad scary trolls that you can ignore easily anyway, then you tell me how we fix this problem.

Thats a consequence of the low pop, not much we can do about it.

Auction, that is solved somewhat by the trade section of the forum.

To me the biggest problem with this wouldnt actually be the spamming, its how it opens up a big can of worms of people getting easy access to intel they would have a harder time getting their hands on without global OOC.

For example, if someone says on an IRC channel that so and so is leaving the zone, has anyone seen him, the chances are that people wont see whats on IRC as immediately as they would on global OOC. Also less people would be logged to IRC than global so that the chances of abuses of this would be lower.

Thats a good thing, isnt the whole point of a PVP server to facilitate pvp? I would love to know where the fights are going down at, so I can either avoid it or jump into the chaos. We rolled red cuz we wanted to PVP, yet most of the people against it are complaining ooc will have PVP related side effects. WELL DOH.

On a side note, one of the things I really miss about previous iterations was the xxx has killed yyy in <insert zone here>. Used to love the KILL/DEATH messages and you knew players were actively killing eachother every night due to the global server chat. Granted, it wasnt classic, but it made the server seem more active, and thats what P99 lacks atm... an active community

I would rather that they implement hot zones with xp bonuses and better coin or loot to bottleneck PVP rather than this shoddy mechanic which would more than likely be abused by zergish group of gankers more than people like you lookin for a fight.

Lol really ur scared about someone knowing your location on a 100 person server? what are you even playing here then? its not like there are lots of zones u can goto anyway higher up, solb, guk, perma, ct, if ur not in one of those zoneswho cares where u are. For someone to go all out in ooc and try and find someone, he must of did something to them. People dont just go all retarded because they got killed in pvp, mabye u should stop training the guy, or stop trying to scam the guy and mabye he wont be looking for you in ooc.

Thats not the point, thats like saying: "Why not allow a third party program that shows you the location of players around you in a minimap, are you scared or something?"

Except it doesn't work that way at all.

VZTZ had global ooc for its entire duration and nobody ever complained about someone's location being given away (GOSH ARE THEY IN LOWER GUK OR SOLUSEK B? WE'LL NEVER KNOW).

This only ever popped up in the theorycraft done on this forum by the 5 people who have an unnatural fear of people having the ability to communicate in a video game.

u could allowed that and i still wouldn't care, if pvp enters my zone my first thought in my head is they are comming my way, even if they have maps and know my exact location, the only way they are getting the jump on you is if you let them. Its nothing like that anyway, even if someone tells somoene where u are, they still have to run to your zone and hope you are still there, zone in and find you, not to mention U know they are comming, WAY different then zoning in and knowing someone's exact location some of the fukin zones are huge,
