When you use that word conceptualize what it does to people who used to be slaves. It is the EXACT same thing as beating a child to keep it scared. Actually a lot of people today don't realise that many poor whites that came to this country were little more then slaves themselves. They were indentured servants. Even then poor whites had more in common with poor people of color then with wealthy land owning whites. Racism serves but one purpose, it keeps poor people fighting each other instead of actually uniting and taking down the status quo.
