Why you hold loyalty to people who are literally screwing you in the ass after 10 years of service is beyond me.

Good question. Let me answer it this way:

I hold no "loyalty" to SOE at all, and am sad as well as a bit pissed off at the handling of our "situation". However, I do consider myself an honorable person. I made a promise, which I intend to keep. As far as I know, SOE has not revoked our right to use their copyrighted material, and our developer continues to communicate with us there.

In kind, I will maintain the same community we have had for as long as I can.

I can say, nothing wrong with that imo. However, I already posted and mentioned Project 1999 over there. I wasn't trying to scavenge a dying ship, more as a means of encouragement to fight for what you guys had, and if all fails, a place to move over to afterwards.

GL with EQmac and hopefully they will change their minds. I for one will not hold my breath

Stealin out.

This man deserves a medal. I think it's great you ran it for all these years and it's a damn shame that they are going to shut it down. If you guys want, please post on the EQMac forums in support of not shutting it down. I wholeheartedly believe Hobart could pull through and reverse the shutdown decision.

But, please, do NOT post about EQEmulator and/or Project 1999 on their forums. That's a jerk move, imo, and if I see people on eqemulator.org posting on the eqmac forums advertising, I will give you a warning on our forums not to do it.

You shouldn't be worshipping them for giving you the short end of the stick for 10 years.

Why on world would they shut the server down after Hobart has spent the better part of a year working on an intel client? Doesn't make sense to me.

Since Nikolai is now an active member of these forums, and this thread is in Server Chat, bashing/flaming him will not be tolerated, and I will be removing the posts that have. You may keep a civil discussion of your opinions of the various situations, but do not get offtopic and insult him or anyone else.

Go make a thread in R&F if you so desire.

Additionally, for the time being, the administrator(s) of the eqmac.com website/forums have requested that P99 not be mentioned or posted about. I expect everyone to honor this request, as would be the case for any other website.

In a way, I can see how he wants to uphold his silent agreement with SoE to maintain his honor. However, I also think he should uphold commitment and honor of keeping his community together. A sense of duty to his fellow community should come first over his sense of honor to someone who just slapped him and his community in the face.

That's just how I see it imo. All sense of upholding the agreement (silent or not) should have gone out the window when SoE stopped caring about your community. As far as I can tell, SoE has given the EQmac community no opportunity to plead their case to allow their community to continue on their live servers as they have been in the past. It was simply a "this is how it's going to be, take it or leave it. In the end, we've made our final decision".

I wish them luck, I hate to see their community fade/vanish and break up because of a silly sense of honor bound to someone who cares not if they do or don't.

TL;DR Bros before hoes.
