I seriously can't begin to fathom why people are so afraid of YT and global OOC. This will only help the server out, which is dying, everyone afraid of this is probably a scrub who will get called out or embarrassed by being on the right side of YT. Just make a limit on how many OOC emotes you can make in a given time, that solves EVERYTHING. If people don't like reading funny green text then they have the option to turn it off, which some people did on VZTZ.
People have provided very good arguments against YT. Global ooc I'm sort of meh about, I don't like it personally but there are good arguments both for and against it, and out of fairness blue99 did have it for a while. I also feel it could be moderated effectively since Amelinda doesn't need to be monitoring it 24/7, people can just screenshot violations of the rules if they happen, so if there are clear rules for how to communicate in ooc people will be deterred from violating them. There, that's my non-trolling opinion on it.

As for YT, it promotes a certain style of pvp and stifles diversity. It gives even more power to shit-talkers, griefers, and random-PKers, while anyone playing by a different set of self-imposed rules is considered inferior or less skilled. Even as an anti-pk I likely have more kills than the average player on this box, it's not about being afraid of being on the receiving end of YT. It's just that some of us are playing a different game and our objective isn't always to rack up as many kills as possible and be publicly recognized for it. In short, YT encourages people to kill for no reason other than to be featured in YT, which just makes everyone paranoid that the people in their zone are going to attack them for no reason, which promotes more of a "shoot first" mentality. Like I said before, it's fine if you want to play that way, just you shouldn't be forced into playing that way.

yellow text doesn't force you to play a certain way

if it gives people a reason to pvp, god forbid

It doesn't literally force you to play a certain way by putting a gun to your head if you don't become a random-PK, but it creates a social expectation for you to play a certain way. You can say "it gives people a reason to pvp", but that's just being obtuse, because people rolling on this server don't need to be given a reason to pvp. They made characters here presumably because they already enjoy pvp and don't need YT to draw them in. You basically want to turn this server into an FPS where the sole goal of everyone playing is to accumulate as many kills as possible.

I think it'd be a draw and kills all of the cons that people are mentioning now.
See above. A leaderboard just makes it easier for PKers to ridicule anyone not playing by their own self-imposed rules. Also, having to code it so that it doesn't include repeated kills, kills on guildies, etc. would probably be more work than the staff is willing to put in (obviously I don't speak for them, but a leaderboard is asking for a lot).

www .yellowtextkillsservers.edu/thisjustin/sodoesglobalooc

Even as a web page it sounds ridiculous that anyone would consider this a bad thing.

howbout enabling global ooc for people up to a certain level, such to coordinate groups until people have made enough friends to find their own groups? say, just as an arbitrary starting point, level 20? it wouldnt completely solve the "omg someone tell me where soandso is" but it would make it more difficult and probably cut down on it a bunch.

or we could just enable for everyone since that problem isn't actually going to exist
