Get to advertising again. People love free games.

I think a classes section would help new comers as well, along with giving people something else to do while they med/camp things (make class guides)

Let's talk about the class forums for a bit. They were requested several times in the past.. but I always felt like they would just clutter the forum (14 boards?) and not really have many active posts in them.

What if, though, I made a single Class forum, and in that forum there was a thread for each class?

Discuss.

14 is a lot, but is there any way with vBullitin to make the 14 sub-forums only visible once you click into the Class Forums section? I know the Simple Machines forum has that feature.

Other than that, archetypes would probably be best for the sake of minimizing clutter: melee, int caster, wis caster would be fine. SK/RNG/PAL/BRD would just have to look around between a couple of the forums.

Thread will become useless, as you will need to search or look through every page for specific things.

I think he means like the wiki which already exists... just with less clicks to get there? I could be interpreting what he is asking for wrong.

This.

I don't really think they would be "clutter," seeing as you could just put a "Class Forums" header with all the individual forums underneath them way down at the bottom of the forums root. No one except the people scrolling down specifically to find them would ever even know they were down there.

I think most people would be happy with that, or even 3-4 divided by class type, i.e. War/Pally/SK, Rog/Monk/Ranger, Mage/nec/wiz/enc, Clr/dru/shm.

There is probably not enough traffic to warrant each class as you said, but one forum w/ mult threads, or a section w/ 3-4 sub forums might just be the ticket.

I like the archetype idea, but there are different types of archetypes.

Like, you could have either a Melee archetype, which would cover War, Mnk, Rog.. or you could have a Tank type, which would cover War, Shd, Pal...

Other than that though the rest could probably be split into..

Int Caster
Wis Caster

Hooray, more players!

I came over and brought three people with me from that fairly new Star Wars MMO, maybe you've heard of it?

We're gluttons for punishment.

That's how it's split on the wiki, Rogean, and it works fine there, think you have a winner idea.

Speaking of the wiki, should probably get a link going on in the forum link bar, having it only buried in the library subsection isn't really new user friendly.
