I'm one of the new players as well. Thanks to those that bought my meager goods at the EC tunnel last night. You're funding a broke necros spells for a few more levels. And thanks to Auena for the rez last night when Orc 1 had troubles. Corpse run to EC from FoB was looking a little rough.

New player here as well! My wife and I are taking turns while waiting for an IP exemption. Everybody I've met has been super nice with buffs and such, which is one of the things I miss most about EQ compared to other mmos. Great community, great game, we plan to be here for a loooong time!

I for one am glad to see new players. The server numbers are up and the game is always more fun with groups.

On the giving of stuff to newbies...

I too do this. But It is usually a chunk of plat (200ish) and maybe a half decent weapon.

To give more, robs them of part of the experience IMO.

I couldn't agree more! I've turned down some very generous offers from veteran players because I want the experience to feel like it did in '99. I even turned down 10pp at the EC tunnel for running into FP, and picking up some Fuzzlecutter Formula 5000, for someone yesterday [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I started a necromancer and could not afford my level 4 and 8 spells. The stuff I was killing wouldn't even let me afford one of them. A few very nice people donated some plat to me and it made those first few levels much less painful, and I'm very grateful for that. I didn't need a robe of the ishva, GEBs, and a runed cowl. Just enough to afford my spells. Although I wouldn't have said no if someone, somehow, offered me those.

So whoever helped, Maithanet says thanks!

Hello ^_^ Very new player here. Old time EQOA player (when i was around 14-15 started playing EQOA) 23 now! i have played many games at high level endgame. Chain of games went from EQOA > FFXI> WOW > Conan, Rift, FFXIV, ect ect ... I can say my favorite games have been EQOA, FFXI and most recently EQ!!! Me and my old guild master back from EQOA days decided to give old Everquest a try just for fun and turns out we love it!!
Although some things are shockingly brutal, even compared to EQOA.... and FFXI. I would say this game is the most hardcore. I made a Gnome Necromancer by the name of Dokuton, and my friend made a Gnome Wizard and we've been exploring and having adventures for about a week now and its been amazingly fun for such an older game. But its keeping us online more than these current day """"""MMOS"""""""".

The community is top notch. Everyone is very helpful and buffs are always given out. Although i almost quit last night due to me and my friend running to Freeport ... which took almost 1.5hours because Gnatte (wizard friend) fell off the boat -_-... which is fine but then a peasant woman killed me in freeport which ruined my day so bad... i blew off steam and couldn't wait to get back in and playing again lol. I really appreciate that you guys run such a quality server and just wanted to say thank you for hard work.

~~~hope to see you in game!!!
