Anon - What's the point?

as an enchanter if i dont go /anon I get a tell every 10 - 20 mins for a group.

Maybe it's because I've played a Cleric for so long, but if I'm looking for a specific class for something, like an exp rez, port, etc I always look at the zone they are in before sending that /tell. If you are in a grouping/raiding/farming zone, and it's not the one I'm in, then I just never send that /tell. You're busy. I get that. Why in the hell would I ever send a /tell to someone in PoS asking for something? If I do see a /LFG, then I "might" send you a /tell depending upon the zone, but most likely only if I know you. There is some basic common courtesy at work here though. Both on the part of those looking for help, and those players who go /anon. Just try to remember that we all started at the same place in this game, and progressed similarly. We all needed help at one point or another, so pay it forward. While it may be a bit of a PITA for you now, just remember that point in your gameplay where that bit of help was incredibly important.

Or if it's a zone you frequent often just plant an alt there and check it yourself.

As a chanter I never go anon or role and every so often someone asks me for something I can't easily do at the moment and I tell them "No, sorry I can't atm, good hunting.", if they go full moran on me (never happens in actuality) then I type /ignore theirname.

I prefer to play openly. I meet more people, have more opportunities to do stuff (even if said opp is plainly stupid!) and enjoy the game all the more imho.

TL;DR.. Dudes how hard is it to type "No, sorry"?

I Play a cleric as a main, while I never /anon I do /role when I do not want to be bothered with tells. You may not know this but when you are busy helping a friend, grouping, or raiding and you suddenly get bombarded with 10+ tells from just as many people for reses then you would understand it gets real hard to concentrate on what you are doing.

Tell hell sucks, however I do know there are people that need help and 50% of the time I am purposely sitting in EC with my /role tag off waiting for people to send me tells. I do enjoy running around and resing people, helping them out, and a lot of times when I know they have very little to donate I decline the trade and tell them its on the house, I make no fuss over plat most of the time.

However complaining about how people hide what class they are is rather selfish, Especially when placing either a /anon or /role is the only way to get away from the constant bombardment of tell hell.
