Problem is if you send them to project1999.org they'll read getting started and be like.. I have to buy the client? Fuck this place. If you send them to a page that tells them to pirate you have to deal with legal troubles. That wouldn't be issue if you just make a page on a free blog host or something as it's their responsibility to remove the page but if you're buying advertising to that page you've now created a money link to the pirate page which can be traced and I doubt anyone is going to go through the trouble to creating an untraceable source of money for buying advertising to a parasite hosted page telling people to pirate the client. That is what it would take though unless someone not associated with the project feels like exposing themselves to the minor legal risk of buying advertising to a page that tells people to pirate and gives them a link to a torrent.

could simply say "to play you need the client, you can either buy it from "insert link" or find one of the many alternate sources on the internet"

im sure most people could figure out where to get the client.

I think the problem is people wanted something to deter people from pvping (xp loss) and its working. It probably also making the server lose numbers. Its like a blue server mainly with an extra grind factor.

So how i see it, im asking myself if its worth grinding to 50, with not much pvp on the way top, with a server thats going to hover in pop at 150-300 if it doesnt get any worse than it is right now.

And it will probably get worse once twinks start being made and any new blood (even people who played since launch that are going to start seeing poopsocker twinks) to the server discouraged from pvping and pursuing a character by xp loss.

I may be wrong, but thats how i see it.

if you aren't willing to take the risk then you don't reap the rewards, if you want pvp you can find it. but thats besides the point, this game has ALWAYS been hard and if you are going to have a server like this you should do it right. this thread just proves how narrow this game's niche is.

Right but with odds being most of the times not in your favor if you are not in a big guild, risk = xp loss most of the times. Even me who had long drawn out pvp sessions on rallos is not doing them, because i know most of the times the odds are against me and will result in xp loss. I could get lucky and play well and get one guy and scoot, but thats not gonna happen most of the times. So i find myself thinking "oh ill just get to 19, then ill pvp". "Oh just get to 24, then ill pvp more".

You can say its my fault im not going out and pvping but i honestly find PVE a boring experience that ive done on blue already and that im only repeating because there is a pvp component attached to it. Since im always postponing pvp because of the extra grind in pve i dread, im not pvping. Which means im getting bored, which gets me closer to playing casual, which gets me closer to quit.

The game is already hard as it is, no need to add to it, especially when the brunt of the extra hardness is put on people who are more likely to quit.

You guys really think a random non-EQ player is going to last even 1 hour with the early level EQ experience being what it is? Be realistic here. You can play WoW for free or even something like Runes of Magic which ramps up players way better + doesn't require all of the complicated installation shit.

I don't think that's the target audience of the server
