you're missing out sir, but i'm sure it's going to be released as a movie sooner or later given that every other fantasy series has already been or is in the process of becoming a movie.

but, there have been several games released, and it sounds like EA is releasing a new MMO and several standalone games based on the WoT series

hey guys, like, wheel of time.

Rand walks into the chamber, an air of madness floating over the unswept floor as he scuffs a pebble near the entrance. This particular pebble has been a part of the ancient chamber for as long as time, the rough dents and a small crack evidence to prove it. The stone might very well have been the King's plaything in happier days, a stone to flick and toss as a little toy. Rand sneezes. The stone was intricate, for something created out of nature. It was almost perfectly round, a little tumor growing on the side, and a pockmark exactly opposite of that.

I love you Robert Jordan but you go off on random descriptive tangents wayyyy too much.

I also wrote all of that after waking up 5 minutes ago.

I have a habit of glossing over excessive descriptions in any literature a bit but I know chicks who literally read it out loud and have braingasms from his descriptive text.

Wheel of time will never be released as a movie, unless they just condense a few books in to one movie that has the same characters/plot concept but otherwise doesn't resemble the book at all. It's just too damn long to properly portray in a movie.

Compare it to Song of Ice and Fire. HBO needed an entire season to portray each individual book. Some WoT books are longer than Ice and Fire books, and WoT's intended series is twice as many books (14) as Ice and Fire's intended series length. I don't even expect Ice and Fire to survive through seven seasons. I actually don't expect that waste of space Martin to finish the series, tbh. I think he will pull a Robert Jordan.

With that said, I think WoT is worth reading. It had its high and low points. I read it first at 19 and re-read the series last year in anticipation of book 13 (8 years later). I actually enjoyed it more this time around as I was able to appreciate the subtlety of the plot and character development. Also, since I read them all straight through I didn't wait a couple years between books and was able to retain a lot more of the details about prophecy foreshadowing and ter'angreals that are relevant to the end battle.

agreed, this type of epic fantasy appears to ramble when it is translated into a movie, i more suspect a movie would be a "WoT themed" "based on WoT" type adaptation.

Oh ya - also I really like Brandon Sanderson as an author, and book 12 was great. I wasn't a fan of book 13 though. It felt rushed, superficial, and like he was more eager to tie up every single loose end than to deliver a quality story.

game of thrones is now my replacement for wheel of time because the main characters die instead of jumping off the deep end
