Taking a lesson from SoD, the exp boost weeks are a good idea. Not only do they reward current players, but they also entice other people to join the server. Unique connections rose from 20-30% when they did this, though I'm not sure how long it lasted. Good idea folks.

There was no logical reason given for class penalties to exist other than "it's classic".

It's not going to get changed so it's useless to talk about changing it.

I was referring to why they ever existed on live in the first place.
I know why they exist here.

Edit: I heard that it may have had something to do with the way D&D was designed. But I can't elaborate as I know jack shit about D&D and it was way before my time.

The 25% exp bonus is neither here nor there. It's not a ton of exp, and it's also not enough exp to "make up for lost time".

I don't see why people are so against the exp bonus and I also don't see why people are so for the exp bonus.

I think a lot of the people so opposed to this bonus are already max level.
