In the off-chance that new players use these forums: DO NOT DO DROP TRANSFERS.

NPC's pick stuff up.
Sometimes things poof.
People steal.

It sucks this happened bud. I think we all learned this the hard way at some point.
I thought the NPC thing was a myth that people believed on classic. Or do they actually randomly pick items up?

But in any case, if anyone finds themselves in OP's situation just ask one of the group members to do the transfer for you. If they say yes and then keep the item, the staff will ban them and give you the item.

If you drop transfer the staff usually can't do anything about it.

Interesting. Wonder if there's any sense to which ones do and which ones don't or if it's just random.

Items should last about 6 mins on the ground. I've done drop transfers many times. My rules are as follows:
1. Never drop something expensive like a fungi tunic.
2. Find a very out of the way spot where players aren't normally present.

You broke them both[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Most people will help with an xfer. Next time ask the person in the group with the biggest guild name.

Yes I could have traded them to a player but the idea is to have a repeatable way to get loot out of the tunnel when I’m down there solo. So I was practicing

Yeah crypt is one of those places where it's better to just gate out and xfer. Losing a heiro cloak or JBB is worse than spending the time breaking back in IMO.

1) CSR has no ability to restore dropped items or track down who picked them up so drop transfer issues are not supported via petition similar to MQs

2) NPCs pick up items so if you drop something inside the range of an NPC they will grab it before you have time to swap

3) NEVER announce when you're drop transferring, people can only steal your stuff if they know there is stuff to steal (and considering there is no way to penalize people for stealing in this matter, if you even consider it stealing, it will be gone)

If you're going to drop transfer, know what you're doing first. But in general there is no reason to drop transfer. Just ask someone to do a transfer for you. Plenty of kind people that will help. The servers are extremely inflated. People aren't hurting that bad for your solo farm gear.

This is why I was thinking a drop transfer would be fine. Why would someone who is farming down there need to do that?

But it guess it’s more of an opportunity thing since it’s untraceable. Or someone teaching me a lesson. Or someone being a rules stickler “on P99 I’m allowed! I’m allowed to pick it up once you drop it! You’re discarding!”

Or maybe just someone simply saying to themselves “wow, what a dumbass. Free 45k lying on the ground”

flat out wrong my dude.

I had a drop transfer poof couple years back, 2 bags of random caster junk, I petitioned with the time and location I was at, as well as some of the items that i could remember the names of. They restored every item, even ones I had forgotten about. Everything is tracked, when items go on the ground the server logs when, where, and what.
