Not sure if they actually "catch" RMTers via engaging in transactions on the site since that would be a lot of money to waste (and the RMTer receives the money either way so it's not a detriment to them). But they definitely look at auction sites for identifying details to try and ban the account in question which is good. Haven't the staff told us they do that?
I doubt it's very hard to identify RMT once the transaction occurs anyway. Items/plat I'd imagine is very easy as you have a big transaction with no record of any consideration received by one party.
Accounts are probably easy as well. An account suddenly changes its password and is now played by a completely different IP? Seems like that would be a red flag to me although I have no idea what their threshold is for this stuff. I guess if the account had been used as a guild bot that might be harder since it would have tons of IPs in its history.
Staff please delete my comment though if we're not supposed to theorize on this stuff.
