My understanding is that it was actually not set to what it's classic incarnation should be (lower HP pool, didn't have all its AEs, etc.) so the GMs spawned a massive Froglok for people to kill as well that dropped a bunch of loot.

I think maybe they intended to put the loot on Jaled Dar, but we killed it so fast they didn't have a chance to ... thus the follow-up giant froglok.

Honestly though I think the frog might have been even more fun than a full-strength Jaled Dar: JD would have just had a lot of hit points, whereas the frog seemed to have every raid mob weapon in the game.
