A religious scientist is like a musical gymnast. Having rhythm may help with the gymnastics part of his life but the gymnastic skills do not flow back very well.

Allowing god into the life of a scientist may allow them to say OK science exists and my explaination of the big bang is that is god. Pretty sound logic right there allowing both to coexist harmoniously.
