Can the devs put a variance spawn on... any npc?

This topic must be in the air. I was visiting my brother last week and he manages a shift at an elder care facility, mostly ambulant clients, and we were sitting at the nurses station right across from the pleasant dayroom, which was filled with tables, filled with chatty old ladies and a few chatty or at least still breathing, old men.

Some were playing board games, or knitting.

But I asked him, if you put a live p99 2d zone map in the middle of those tables, with lights on the map that turn red when a mob is dead, could you rig a button for each old lady to hit whenever the mood strikes them, or they need a nurse, that would add old lady variance to mob spawn rates on an emu server?

He said he didn't see any reason why not.

i read this twice and i still dont get it
does the button spawn or despawn it? or do the old women kill and the old men spawn?
whats stopping your elderly brother from spawning all the time just for you

My brother could hit the buttons but he can't control 3 dozen elderly women from doing what they please. It's pretty laughable. There's a reason the nurses station isn't in the dayroom. That's their turf, he says.

Anyway, the buttons don't "control" the spawns, they add old lady variance. They can opt to set the button how they wish. That changes as the day progresses. It's not chaos, it's just like watching a "stubborn river" if that makes sense.

Sure you might think the EC tunnel is safe but sometimes people train mobs into it, so it's not safe really and you should never feel like you can afk there.

Oh wait just don't pull mobs into the tunnel, and also don't swarm in DL.

That kind of thinking is what killed the MMORPG genre. The game isn't supposed to be safe. NPC's should actually be hunting players down sometimes. It shouldn't even be completely safe to be AFKing in the middle of your hometown, because scripted city invasions should be a thing and cause monsters to come flooding in occasionally.

I think you are after a different game. Or make said server. Im almost certain it is simple... Everyone will swarm to your server and almost never complain ot is "Wrong".

would be awesome if there was a quest that would make an assassin NPC spawn somewhere near you randomly and you had to fight it or it would kill you. Then when you complete the next step of the quest it stops.

Let people roll a Nino. No need for npc spawns. Only spell a Nino has is a gate to all quest npc zones. Non-aggro, can't kill him but he can kill you.

Tell me this is a bad idea, with a straight face.
