anyone that thinks the goal is to strengthen the dollar, doesn't get it

Quote:
U.S. companies that export or rely on global markets for the bulk of their sales are financially hurt when the dollar strengthens.
it's same logic behind if you lower taxes enough you actually increase tax revenue from the extra generated business activity, and it's 100% the plan to weaken the dollar

pretty sure orange emperor has even spoken about this before, considering he actually knows that shit with having to deal with it with his own businesses

As someone without diabetus or an alcohol addiction, I can say I did hear a rumor, and it may just be a rumor, that the USSR’s “Stoli” brand Russian vodka had a cap that had to be broken to be removed

Meaning it couldn’t be re-capped, encouraging the user to finish the bottle. And that alcoholism was in a sense encouraged by the USSR

counterpoint: booze makes people (soldiers) take bold risks and sometimes taking bold risks is the decisive factor in a battle or in a war

There's literally a wiki page on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_in_Russia.

TLDR; The Russian government hasn't always been pro-alcohol. Alcoholism has been a problem in Russian culture for a long time, and several governments (including the Bolsheviks ... at least initially) took steps to combat it.

But also ... both Ivan the Terrible and Stalin (as well as less famous Russian governments) created government monopolies on alcohol, and then made huge amounts of money off them (we're talking like 1/3 of the country's entire budget!)

When your entire base of power depends on the money coming from alcohol, you're pro-alcoholism ... even if you're not really pro-alcoholism.
