Ranger is the right choice for this "chill and kill mobs for plat" over SK or even necro IMO.

If you want a necro to kill higher level things your ranger can't, by all means.

BUt if you're killing green mobs for items, ranger all the way.

Not only will you dispatch the mobs faster with the press of 1 button, which is important when chilling. You will be able to track multiple camps easily in the same zone. So that's nice.

Also lightning swords are awesome and so is a ranger just enjoying the cool norrathian breeze.

There are ways to make plat on just about any character. Of course some will be faster than others, and things like Paineel guards and HHK guards can often be contested, plus they don’t give exp, but there’s always a way.

I restarted fairly recently on the green server and had to build up from scratch. I am a 56 Ranger and when I need to farm enough for an item I just hit up HHK, farm guards for a bit and then buy whatever I’m after. I’m not rolling in plat, not wearing a fungi etc, but my gear is decent and I’ve managed to find the majority of things I want that are semi-affordable without much issue (Tolan’s bracer for 7k etc)

As others said, Droga can be really good, but it’s not as good on a Ranger without a Tolan’s BP because vendoring takes way too long, even with a hammer. There might be a way to sneak vendor in the outpost though I just haven’t really tried.

LoIO has a vendor which isn’t greedy.

I found forager cycle in Trakanon’s Teeth a good spot for ranger if you are happy to sell iksar hide mask, ceremonial iksar chestplate, etc. There are a few nice no drop items so maybe park a future alt there?

You may be able to do frenzied in velks too, but even at 60 I still sometimes die there.
