didn't he make like 15 offers to get the rights to her voice and likeness?

only one reason a tech nerd would do that

it's the wrong girl to recreate anyway. real nerds want a Rachel, not the actress that ruined the live action GITS movie.

I am more worried about what’s going to happen to my job with any potential federal Medicaid changes. I had thought we were funded exclusively by the state, but apparently we do get some federal funding as well

And even if it doesn’t affect our jobs directly, any cuts to Medicaid will have ripple effects that will result in the mental health field (and law enforcement possibly) having to pick up the pieces. Also possibly food banks

I’m all for the idea of “tough love” which is removing support on those capable of supporting themselves who have become dependent on that support. But tough love is a long term solution. It is always going to result in a “will get MUCH worse before it gets better” situation

It’s not like when a parent says to a freeloading adult child “no more freebies, son” that the kid straps on his work boots and goes out to get a job. No they first freak the fuck out on the parent. Maybe do some threats. Maybe a little emotional blackmail. Maybe some theft, some property damage. Then after enough time has passed, if they are still alive, they COULD come to the ideal conclusion that all that other shit they were just doing is making life harder on them and getting a job is actually the easier path, even though it doesn’t look like it

This is how I envision pulling benefits plays out on a large scale as well

tradesmen are safe for a good long time

data processing jobs are gone in 5 years for sure

if you're employed to make one set of bits into another set of bits, or any variant therein, you might wanna learn a new skill.

that's the majority of any jobs that sit in front of a screen

like klaus shwab says, we're going to need people to polish the robots
