you can probably get some very mediocre rots in vp? idk i'm not keyed, it has a lot of garbage and it's a PITA to get in but for certain classes it has some really, REALLY good shit and those items will always be sought after by the ppl who put in the effort to get there in the first place.

and, while i don't doubt it's a thing that has happened at some point in time, i think you would likely find yourself very disappointed if you were actually banking on scooping up even a 2hp primal rot. they're just *that good* for every single auto-attacking character in the game.

i think i get annoyed that so many people played p99 for so long they dont remember what real classic was like

to them classic was p99 10 years ago

some of us only discovered p99 a few years ago

i remember the first time i saw someone with treant fists on p99 green, soon after it opened

i couldnt believe they had this item, it was super rare to the point i remember the best monk on our server rage quitting the game after he spent months in the beholder's maze trying to get the alchemist to spawn (this was back when treant fists had complete heal, yall prob like huh? what you mean??)

like their are literal comments from back then on the allhakahazam (sp?) page that confirm the alchemist never spawned and talking about the complete heal, but then i have people from p99 tell me treant fists were always this super attainable medicore item and its like... yeah. thats not a true classic experience though. the item was ridiculously op at the time and it was really, really, REALLY hard to get, lol. worse than an epic.

i see the misremembering of how dime a dozen primals were very similarly

like im more annoyed at how people misremember true classic than i am the fact that someone can get nerfed treant fists easily

or how primal weapons are somehow being remembered as tehy really rare unattainable items

its just super... not accurate for anyone who can still remember 25 years ago.

also PKT and reed belt were ultra rare on my server, i know people who camped bilge for 6 months, multiple people competing for this spawn day in and day out and never got him. so when i saw reed belt and pkt on p99 green literally everywhere as soon as the server opened, i was at first flabbergasted but quickly realized its just not classic

there are still old auction prices for these items from pre kunark going for 20k+ pp because how rare they were. i also remember when runed mithril bracers were 5kpp on my server.

not because the royals werent perma camped around the clock, but because the drops were super friggin rare in true classic.

also not being kos to sarnaks or chardok is also not classic, lets keep it real af lol

i remember the first time i discovered the sarnak braids, i forgot the name of the item, but you can wear them as a bracer, shoulder, and i think some other slot.. item that has +atk

i was like oh wait the sarnaks have to love you??? at the time that was insane. people like to re-write history, but true classic was literally EVERYONE leveled in the sarnak fort / LOIO, lol.

the fact that sarnak fort is completely empty now speaks volumes. yall want to make real classic, give sarnak fort insane exp bonus or something. I always try to explain this to my friends who only discovered p99 / eq through me because they think it's classic to level in the same 4 zones... and its like nah.... no one was leveling in any of these zones in true classic, lol. dungeons were seen as a place you went to get $. People werent exclusively leveling in UR, Mistmoore, CoM, KC etc.

LOIO, FM, OT, DL was super packed. And yes it was boring, but true classic was LOIO, not UR. Anyone saying otherwise is being WILD.

I dont hate the changes on P99 tho obviously, like CT being a kind of cool zone because of ZEM is nice. I just wish they would change these ZEMS to where it changes up regularly, maybe on a monthly basis, that way its not the same exact places every single character i level, lol. i actually feel like there was more diversity in leveling back in the day, lol.

I remember being in nurga when 9/11 happened because it was a hot zone (and most people were leveling in giant fort at FM anways). this was actual classic. dalnir was a hot zone as well and worth the travel. i feel like this is something they could do better. not even indefinitely, like im not saying force everyone to level in weird out of the way places, but true classic was actually leveling in dalnir or nurga or fm or loio. this set in stone leveling path where i just tell you where to go based off of what level you are is super not classic, lmao. i didnt even use CoM as a kid. like yeah i went there, but it wasnt the only place to level. Hell, I spent more time in TOFS during the same level range.

I think a lot of people are mistakenly remembering Ancient Prismatic weapons. They were functionally identical to Primal weapons, but they dropped from the revamped ST mobs and were not relevant for long due to the influx of other new sources of stats/atk. Actual Primal weapons were the opposite of "welfare loot" on live.

IMHO no, not at all. I remember almost everyone's twink on my server having primal weapons (it's why they later added a level requirement for them).

...

Discuss ITT: were Primal weapons really rare and prestigious or is this hearsay
There's no way, it was a very slow grind for Primals. We were the 2nd guild on the server to get enough ST keys on Live, which meant that the Sleeper was immediately released before we got any chance at dragons. Losing out on dragons was a huge blow to gearing up, it adds weeks and weeks of what should be an easy source of upgrades for NToV.

Now, once they revamped ST and you had Ancients to kill, yes, people had their primals. But from Velious until ~month or three into Luclin, they were very rare and bagged only once into NToV+.

Quote:
Luclin launching shortly afterwards made these items significantly less impactful in the traditional timeline of the game.
It took a while for Luclin itemization to get there, it was weeks before Ssra Temple even had drops.
