No, they thought the election had been illegitimate. You can argue they were misguided and wrong in that belief, sure, but the fact they *thought* it is exactly why it's NOT an insurrection; they thought they were *upholding* our democracy by rejecting an illegitimate election.

That is very different than an insurrection, which is where you basically say "fuck it, I don't like this government so let's overthrow it". That's not what happened at all.

I've made this point before, but the idea they were trying to overthrow america while waving american flags all over the place should be the first clue it wasn't a fuckin insurrection attempt, no matter how bad you want it to be.
