They are laughably bending and stretching this law far beyond The Constitution to try and make these charges stick. It's slowly being chiseled away on appeal. They even just let the Shaman out of prison after that video dropped. I know it sounds serious to say 'thousands charged and convicted' but it's literally a blanket charge of trespassing.

"nobody was even armed" Yet there are people with felony charges for having firearms on their person on capital grounds. Not to mention all the bats, knives, and makeshift weapons people were using. Sure, none of the rioters discharged their firearm to my knowledge, but saying they were unarmed is verifiably inaccurate and another obvious attempt to try to diminish the threat posed.

As for your due process claim, that's the only plausible thing you said here. I searched to find a number that have been arrested, but not arraigned and couldn't find anything. If you do actually have a reputable source for this, I would be interested to read it.

I did find this Insider article though that has a searchable table of everyone charged as well as what they were charged with, which was interesting.
