smoke pot if u want, but don't kid urself that it:

-is not a gateway drug
-is not addictive
-is safe to use
-is more healthy than alcohol
-doesn't support the wholesale slaughter of mexican civilians
-doesn't make u lazy/squash motivation

edit- don't get me wrong, i think the use of federal resources to raid pot farms and imprison stoners is a laughable waste of resources, but that doesn't mean that pots good/okay

i agree with most of this. I guess I think weed should be legal because I don't believe anyone should be able to tell me what I do to myself (provided I'm not hurting anyone else). I agree that it is unhealthy, can make you super lazy/unmotivated, it is addicting, etc.

The other reason I think weed should be legal is your edit and the mexican civilian slaughter bit.

It seems to me that legalizing weed would reduce the need to import so much pot from Mexico, hopefully reducing the power of the cartels there.

It seems to me that legalizing weed would reduce the misallocation of government resources (raids on pot stores, stoners in jail, etc)

It seems to me that legalizing weed would take a large amount of revenue away from difficult-to-trace cartels / other illegal ventures and give that money back 1) to the government and 2) to legal businesses which are subject to law/regulation

-by the same logic chocolate is a gateway drug (99% of heroin users tried chocolate 1st)
-is habit forming, not addictive
-can be safe to use, ie extraction or vaporized (mostly is not used safely)
-depends on use and amount, alcohol is beneficial at low levels.
-depends where you get it. If you grow your own Mexicans die? (btw banana eating supports the slaughter of Colombians, Chicita banana was fined a few years back for 20 years of killing union organizers)
-depends on the person and the use amount, if they were already lazy/unmotivated, they will continue along that path.

But weed is all I've done for 2 years now.. Never had the urge to try anything else. Idk about the addictive part. Smoking anything is bad. Vaporizing though has almost no negative impacts. Also, seeing as how weed doesn't destroy your organs, I would say much healthier than alcohol. I also buy from a guy who grows his own. No ties to the mexican cartels there. Only one of those that's true for me is the lazy part.

Also...makin myself a Marijuamlette for dinner. Probably a side of pasta tossed with some cannaoil pesto.

Gonna be baked for like a good 5 hours straight I reckon.

One of my dreams is to open a "marijuana restaurant" if weed is ever fully legalized in NY (I have a culinary degree.) I imagine it would be a gold mine.

I'm pretty sure there is science to back up that weed is not physically addictive, however, as anyone who has quit smoking cigarettes can tell you, mental addiction is way harder to break. Anyone who doesn't think weed is mentally addictive is.... well, on drugs I guess.

edit: I'm not saying that is a bad thing - there are a ton of every day things people do that are mentally addictive. Just saying that to claim there is no aspect of addiction with pot is pretty silly.

Why do more fat people smoke weed than skinny people?
