In America we demand the government stay out of our bedrooms.

In China they don't make demands because the government is in every boardroom.

I continue to hold out hope that eventually there will be a mass exodus of all conservatives AND all moderates from Big Tech companies like FB, Twitter

It will take them doing some egregious, and something that affects moderates as well as conservatives. Once the exodus begins, it will be like a snowball rolling downhill, because people are like lemmings. The more that are moving, the more that will follow

Democrats on those platforms will think “good, we want them gone”. But it will hurt the companies, and that’s who I most want to hurt. And I want to hurt them where it counts, their wallets

Hmm well.

I hate to break it to you but here are some hard to swallow pills about "conservatives" in tech.

First of all, there are virtually none. At best you have libertarians.

But spoiler, libertarians in northern california, are extremely left leaning, more left than most lefties.

Even if they lean right, they are literally surrounded by HARD CORE LEFTIST RICH PEOPLE who embrace futurist progressive ideas.

It doesnt take long for rich friends who wont shutup about their brainwashing, to brainwash anyone.

This means, a traditional conservative (someone who is not willing to use a microchip in their brain or eye without even thinking about it.) is simply: NOT WELCOME in the tech industry.

They are not even welcome in the region the tech industry thrives.

Ive heard conservatives since the 1990s say "we're leaving" and every time I heard all the libs that rule the industry say "and stay the FUCK OUT!"

so it's their loss.

Tech is a futurist progressive realm.

Maybe that's why after 10+ years of it driving our economy, everyone is depressed because of FOMO and all the healthy people want to kill themselves working 3 jobs. (sorry everyone but patriam)

Like Seth Rogen, who brags about being robbed 15 times and says “it’s called living in a big city” and that people shouldn’t complain

Is everyone rich like you Seth? Everyone can just shrug off losing their possessions 15 times? Fucking moron

It's a classic white pillaged artist gentrifier attitude.

Ive heard people say that about moving to the ghetto while they're pricing out all the people that made it a ghetto, since I was 18 and moved out into the ghetto to price people out of the ghetto.

Even if you are not wealthy, you are like, "into" the whole ghetto lifestyle. So when your friends mom is like, 'i hear people get robbed there, how can yo udo that!' and since you are white privlaged and living off of trickle down economies you're like "haha you're just not cool enough to get it, boomer!"

Like 99% of all information and modern political discourse is currently exchanged on these platforms, they are effectively a digital town square and I think they have to be treated as such (not moderated, except for blatantly illegal content or blatant spam).

I mean you can make the argument they need to be regulated simply based on election interference; they all acted swiftly to squash that hunter biden laptop scandal when it first dropped right before the election, and after the election many dems who were polled said they never heard of it, and would have seriously reconsidered voting for biden if they had known. I mean that's just blatantly influencing the vote tallies, in a direct way, by suppressing that story.

Russian interference is nothing compared to basically having a monopoly on driving the bus of public discourse.

So whats the plan to nationalize these institutions like twitter or facebook?

Have them hire large numbers of slaves in 3rd world countries to vet every post and make sure it's not misinformation, or censoring a conservative?

Reminder: the reason we dont have that law is because it would stifle any competition as large companies would be the only able to pay those costs. So no competitors to Facebook or twitter would ever be able to challenge them. Forever.

Youtube, forever, no new video platforms, as all will be shut down due to costs of vetting posts.

Is there some new idea about how these companies can be nationalized? because the current idea is to go with an idea that the mega corporations convinced us would be impossible for them to pay for, except now, the mega corporations are saying we DO need it.

Court went the only direction they could go and I am glad, thanks for the good read OP.

It is extremely stupid to be crying about section 230 especially with out it the platforms would be liable for what was written on them.

Free speech isn't posting conspiracy stories, foreign manipulated information (originating from Russia) or trying to incite a mob. And the whole Hunter Biden laptop garbage was the same tired Hillary Clinton E-mails manipulation (The data on both was tampered by foreign powers.)

If you are posting Anti-Vaccine conspiracy or Qanon Conspiracies that helps you recruit others you don't deserve your soap box.

If you are posting that Ivermectin in large quantities gets rid of Covid19 while two have already died from overdose in New Mexico and your are helping to just stress a state's poison control emergency central phone number as in the case of Minnesota; then yeah you and your group posting this crap should be silenced. You are endangering others.

If you are making posts about threatening the life of any politician in a mocking video format or in text on social media you should be silenced.

And conservatives whine about Facebook and Twitter but most of their white racial motivated extremist groups (even with the bans) are finding their safe havens and recruitment there; still.

I would love if social media posting platforms were responsible for what was wrote on it, it would mean a lot less GOP Facebook word of kin folk recruitment.
