Booze benefits the state? Domestic violence, road accidents, and obesity?

I strongly disagree.

Just put your personal opinions on the good or bad of these things aside for a moment.

Tax revenue. And some of those bad things booze and weed causes will increase incarceration down the road, which also benefits the state as prisoners often provide slave labor. There may be for-profit prisons involved later, too.

Plus, the carceral system helps advance the cause of white supremacy, which the state supports. The people who work for the state may not be white supremacists, obviously, or even the politicians, but the whole thing writ large enforces white power. Can't say if that happened naturally or deliberately.

There's all the ancillary benefits of this, too. Lawyers getting their payouts for being prosecutors or defenders, judges, cops, clerks at city hall... everything is connected. The health issues it causes generate shitloads of revenue in doctor's offices and hospitals everywhere.

I can't say if all of the obesity and alcoholism costs more than it brings in, there's no balance sheet for that kind of stuff.

Churches don't cause that kind of revenue. Vices do.

Denmark has hospitals where you can do heroin to death, but if you get caught smoking weed after a long day of working (for less than min wage) if you smoke a joint you go to jail for 6 months lol.

It all balances out though, because all the responsibilities an adult would have the state does for you. So there is no reason to really get excited, or depressed enough to even want to do drugs.

Fauci’s net worth doubled during COVID-19 pandemic: Watchdog report

Dr. Anthony Fauci's net worth just about doubled during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a government watchdog report.

Watchdog group OpenTheBooks announced it had received Fauci’s fiscal year 2021 financial disclosures from the National Institutes of Health and found that he and his wife Christine Grady’s household net worth topped $12.6 million — an increase of $5 million from $7.6 million in 2019.
