![]() largely depends on budget, the distance of the move itself, the level of fitness of you/your helpers, and how much big / heavy stuff you have
i worked for a moving company while i was going to college so id rather just take my buddies out for beers after and make sure my shit doesnt get damaged...but i have all the tools to do it (company truck, enclosed trailer, straps, etc)....look at it as a good opportunity to get an amazing workout for a day or two if you have no idea what you're doing and have the money...just hire an insured local company...you're probably helping out college guys (or men with/without a HS diploma)...and please tip them well if you're moving long distance and have a big house full of nice stuff you probably ought to go with one of the big boys...mayflower, allied, united, etc.

![]() Yeah how far are you moving? Like I moved from VA to Boston once, into a 5th floor apartment with no elevator. That was the most hellish moving experience, and I wish I had just called ahead and arranged for movers in Boston to carry the big shit up.
On the other hand when I moved out I didn't really want the furniture anymore, so I got to toss it off the balcony into a dumpster which was super fun.

![]() Friends don't ask friends to help them move. Unless you're young and poor.
